What is Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR therapy?

The unique Somatic and Attachment Focused (S.A.F.E.) EMDR therapeutic approach from Personal Transformational Institute, created by Deb Kennard, is a trauma-informed model that considers how trauma affects an individual’s ability to regulate the nervous system and to connect with others. She created the S.A.F.E. approach to simplify attachment and regulation theory to make the EMDR process more effective. The approach is informed by somatic therapies, mindfulness practices, attachment theory neurobiological regulation models (emdr-training.net). Within this approach, we explore the attachment longing under the presenting issue or limiting to better understand the behavior or “attachment pattern” may by no longer serving you and actually limiting you.
